Easter

I gotta be honest, I'm struggling. My allergies are worse this year more than ever and its putting a wrench in life. Over the years I could always tell when the pollen came out, a mild headache that lingered for a couple days. Then a few years ago I started having additional symptoms so I started taking Zyrtec. For the most part that worked great and I thought I had solved the problem. Unfortunately, this spring has hit me hard and my symptoms are just plain bad. I don't feel like myself. I have less energy and I'm always in a bit of a fog. Insert giant frown. I've started layering another medication to hopefully help and I'm saying a little prayer that it does.

It's been almost a year since I hurt my leg and even though that's healed for the most part, my body still hasn't been able to get back to normal and these pollen shenanigans aren't helping. When your body won't cooperate it is just the pits.

Before I start sounding like a completely ungrateful jerk- I know there are people who are far worse off than I- life hasn't stopped, it just isn't moving as smoothly as it was last time this year and I can't quite figure out how to fully coarse correct. In the mean time, I had a really nice holiday weekend and that's always something to be grateful for. I got some niece and nephew time, squeezed in a couple bike rides, and had some fabulous food. Thanks especially to my friends Chris and Melanie for having us all over for Easter dinner Sunday.

As Catholics, we see Easter as a bit of a rebirth, a new beginning.  Here's to finding one when you need it. Cheers!

It's Friday, Love

{ Found this little guys on the sidewalk }

It's been a really fun week. My firm was nominated for an award from Hype RVA and we found out last night that we won! Kinda cool. Also feeling better about a lot of things in general which I'm attributing to the fact that it's been a little over a month since we ended session and I think I'm almost fully recovered. Lots of fun spring events got put on the calendar this week and I'm looking forward to spending this weekend with the fam for Easter. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. See ya Monday!

Homemade Pierogies

When your friends invite you over to make homemade pierogies the correct answer is yes! I can't divulge the secret family recipe, but if you buy me a few drinks I'm sure we can work something out. Pierogies are the eastern European equivalent of dumplings or ravioli. Yummy filling made from local ingredients on hand wrapped in dough and then cooked. In our case we par-boiled the pierogies and then we'll pan fry them in butter and onions this Sunday for Easter. I can't wait!

Rhode Island

I spent the better part of last week in Providence, RI speaking at a conference. It was my first time in this charming city so I was very excited to explore. If you happen to visit, I would highly recommend Ellie's Bakery for their AUHMAZING breakfast sandwich- they smoke their own bacon-, Ken's Ramen which only accepts cash and is worth the line, Hemenway's for oysters and Rhode Island clam chowder, and last, but not least, Sienna for their to-die-for bolognese. This may sound like a lot of food but we walked quite a bit so leave me alone. Speaking of, my favorite walk was through the older section of the city up near Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design. Wandering at its best. Enjoy the photos!
