Growing up I hated what I knew as "fruit salad". It was super sweet and tasted artificial. But there is something wonderful about the light, fresh accompaniment that fruit brings to a meal, especially brunch. A few years ago I found this wonderful recipe from Ina Garten for Limoncello Fruit Salad. Think of it as a grown up version of what you remember from childhood. The fruit gets to take a bath in limoncello and a tiny bit of sugar which brings out the juices and the natural sweetness. The Greek yogurt topping feels rich and even more decadent when you add honey and lemon curd. SO GOOD! Enjoy!

Vacation
Every year when I get back from the beach I step out of my car and think how unfathomable it is that just a few hours earlier I was standing on a stretch of sand and saltwater as far my eye could see. Wind. Where is my wind? My face has become accustomed to it and now feels bereft without its caress. Asphalt. Hmmmmm. Glad to be home, but man I miss the smell of saltwater. I miss the sound of the surf. I miss my afternoon cocktail. I miss my niece and nephew. Really fun time with the family this year, our 26th. Hope you enjoy the photos. I'll be looking at them frequently in the coming days to calm the longing in my heart for South Carolina.

A Flying Squirrel
What the hell is a flying squirrel? I have no idea. Couldn't we have come up with something just a teency-weency more menacing? How can we drive fear into the hearts of men with a flying squirrel? Anyhoo, I'll get down off my soapbox. We had a blast Saturday night at the Diamond celebrating my best friend's husband's birthday. Kiddos, baseball, beer, hot dogs and lots of fun....go Squirrels!
