Dracula's Kiss


I have a thing for Vampires. I always have. There's just.....something about them. I find them sexy as hell. Whoops, tangent...

My computer is fixed! My computer is fixed! My computer is fixed! My computer broke first thing Monday morning and I was promptly informed that it's journey to the "Land of Oz" where it would be fixed, plus the return journey, would take at least a week. Cue my heart sinking because that meant no editing my photos or blogging.  These weeks, when I can't do something I get so much joy out of, remind me how much I love doing this. Which brings us to today's post.

My Annual Halloween Costume Party is this weekend and I can't believe it's been six years since I started this awesome tradition. The first year I thought I would be super Martha Stewart and make a signature cocktail. Epic fail. Trying to make craft cocktails with a group of 30+ people is not efficient or fun. Now I stick to wine and beer and have a much better time.

But, let's say you're settling in for a cozy evening at home to watch a scary movie. This occasion lends itself to something a bit more special that helps create a spooky, fun mood. You can find the recipe for Dracula's Kiss below. My favorite part is that when you stab the blackberries the juice kind of looks like blood. It went perfect with a spicy batch of homemade Siracha Popcorn and the best Halloween movie ever, you guessed it, Halloween! We had a great, and very spooky evening......enjoy...if you dare...:)

Dracula's Kiss

1 oz. St. Germaine
1 oz. Brandy
Top with Champagne
Add a splash of Grenadine for color
Blackberries for garnish

It's Friday, Love

I love the feeling I get when I step on the gas pedal to leave the airport parking lot and see the sign for 95/64. It means I'm almost home. No matter how productive or successful a work trip is, I'm pretty wiped by the return trip. This week in Boston was no exception. My organization held a Public Policy Forum and Annual Gala and I'm happy to report we met our fundraising goal and also had a fabulous time in the process. Now, me = pooped:). When I do cross my doorstep, I'll in be in need of kisses from Miss A, some Chinese take-out and a good movie.

Curried Pumpkin and Coconut Soup


I'm ashamed to say I have never cooked with an actual pumpkin. I've always used canned. No more, ladies and gentleman. It was so easy to roast the pumpkin and the flavor was amazing. You can find the recipe I used for this spicy fall soup here. Enjoy!

Good and Steep


There's a line in a Brandi Carlisle song the band does that says "the hill I'm walkin up is getting good and steep". Some days it feels like that, both literally and figuratively. We hope there's a ledge ahead we can rest on, so we keep pushing. Keep moving. Here's a few pics from a recent climb I did. Fall Mash-Up


I first started making this recipe a couple years ago when I saw it in Real Simple Magazine. The roasted Brussels sprouts, toasted walnuts and creamy blue cheese were nestled in the jacket of a sweet potato. What's not to love about that?! I decided to roast the sweet potatoes separately this time, which turned the dish into more of a warm fall salad, best eaten outdoors by a fire. Throw in some roast chicken on the side and a buttery chardonnay and I'm a super happy girl. Enjoy!
