Happy Everything!

Drum roll please........and here it is our 2014 Holiday Card! Absolutely my favorite one yet! Mostly because Miss A looks fabulous, but she wouldn't smile no matter how much I bribed her. My holiday card has become such a fun thing that I love to do every year and I'm already thinking of something fun for 2015. I'm taking a break for the rest of the year and signing off till New Year's Day. I hope you have a wonderful holiday that includes drinking, eating and sleeping waaaaaay too much. Then we can work it off next year. Thank you to everyone who has supported Austen Hill this year. It means a whole hell of a lot!

It's Friday, Love

It's the last "It's Friday, Love" of 2014....tear, sniff. End of the year nostalgia creeps up on you and then all of a sudden you start reflecting on great memories, exciting things that have happened, places you've travelled to, nights you've cried yourself to sleep, decisions you can never take back. Such is life. We do the best we can with the information we have in front of us. Then we put one foot in front of the other and try to learn so tomorrow is better.

Monday will be my annual Christmas Card unveiling and then Miss Austen and I are taking a much needed break before the exciting chaos of January starts.

Oh and I still haven't finished my Christmas shopping....leave me alone!:)

The Best Things Happen While You're Dancing

Today's post is appropriately named for my favorite song in the movie White Christmas. The best things really do happen when you're dancing. This past weekend felt like a dance. I was a little nervous at first, became passionately intoxicated once I let the music run through me and by the end......... my feet hurt. Church Hill's Annual Holiday Weekend never disappoints!

The band was so excited to shake up vespers this year by playing on the monument in Libbie Hill Park. Such a magical night! Then we had the Church Hill Ball Saturday and capped it off with the house tour Sunday. In between we managed an impromptu brunch, a ton of laughs and great times with friends who also happen to be my neighbors.

Down on Main Street

I love the little shops. I love the restaurants with dishes you can't get anywhere else. I love the quiet. I love the way people greet each other when they see a friendly face. I love the small towns that I have abnormally found myself in over the last two years. Who knew?

I had the chance recently to spend a quick overnight work trip in Staunton, one of those lovely little towns, which was actually my first time there. It was ridiculously charming and I can't wait to go back because I didn't get the chance to visit the Shakespeare Theatre. Hope you enjoy the pics....
