Annapolis

I had the chance to go to Annapolis for work last week and of course brought my camera along. I hope you enjoy the pics as much as I enjoyed wandering around playing tourist for a couple hours.

It's Friday, Love

Happy to report it's been a pretty good week in my little corner of the world. Miss Austen has continued her rekindled love affair with our backyard since the German Shepard who very much wanted to jump the fence and eat her has left. Happy dog = Happy Life. Another Irish Festival has come and gone. Silly, but it's become a yearly event that makes me think about all that's happened since the last one. All that's happened.....

I got to spend a couple days in Annapolis for work, a town I'm ashamed to say I've never been to. Luckily I had a few hours to wander around and play tourist, which where lovely despite the wind. I can't wait to go back and spend more time there when the weather is warmer. This weekend looks rainy so I'm planning to continue my epic house redecoration saga and paint my kitchen. I'm sure there will be a little fun thrown in as well. Have a great weekend!

{ Super proud of my neighbors Dutch & Co. who were just named Style Weekly's Restaurant of the Year! Check out this great video Style Weekly made to honor them with a cameo by yours truly here. }

{ A sneak peek at Annapolis photos that I'll have up next week }

{ I made a deal with myself. If I eat breakfast I can have more wine. Sounds good to me! }

{ I hope everyone is happy, after much prodding, scolding, cajoling and nagging I finally got a cell phone case }

Rosemary Rendezvous

Rosemary, how I love you. Let me count the ways. I know it's early, but a couple weeks ago the weather was so nice I went to the greenhouse and bought some herbs and a few hardy flowers to start some of my annual pot planting. Everything has done well, even withstanding a couple snow days. Hopefully this is a good sign and my thumb will actually turn green this year. In years past you could say it's been a pale chartreuse. A vast improvement over my charcoal thumb of a few years ago to be sure, but not yet the bright Kelly green I'm aiming for.

I was lucky I had some of this fabulous little herb already on hand when a friend came over for an impromptu cocktail recently. Cut to me racing around my house trying to figure out something fun to make with what I had on hand. What any of us did before google search I know not. I found a great recipe for a Rosemary Lemondrop Martini which you can find here. It was light and refreshing with just a touch of warmth from the herbal addition. Perfect for spring. I'm not a huge sugar fan and time was not on my side, so I omitted the rosemary sugar rim but, if you have the time and the taste for it I'm sure it would be a yummy addition. Throw in a few snacks for good measure and you have a wonderful time on your hands. Cheers!

A Kiss For Luck

Here's some of my favorite pics from this weekend's Irish Festival in Church Hill. Till next year!

It's Friday, Love

{ Loving a new coat for spring }

Everything changes, including taste. I didn't realize how stale my house has felt until I chose some new colors and re-decorated a few rooms. There's still rugs to find, art work to hang and photographs to print out but I already feel so much better about how things look. I'm almost falling in love with my house all over again. I'm documenting the changes for future posts so stay tuned!

This weekend is the annual Irish Festival in Church Hill so I hope you'll come visit the wonderful neighborhood we call home for some fabulous music, brews and good times. There will most likely be wine on the porch and a little bit of work that unfortunately has to be sprinkled in. But we'll make it through. Here's to a great weekend!

{ Some lavender to brighten up my kitchen }

{ Re-reading The Historian for book club at my place in a couple weeks }

{ A sneak peak at my new living room color which goes perfectly with my Grandmother's piano }
