You like me! You really like me!

A huge thank you to the fabulous ladies over at The Glitter Life for nominating Austen Hill for a Leibster Award! The Liebster is a great way to highlight up-and-coming bloggers and support the community. Here's how it works.....

I answer 11 questions about myself posed by the Glitter ladies .........

I nominate other bloggers..........

The nominated bloggers answer 11 of my questions.......

So here goes......

My answers

1. Whose writing inspires you most?

For me it's obviously Jane Austen. I'm literally a groupie. Her novels inspire me in so many ways
because she created heroines who were intelligent, passionate in their own unique ways, and always
authentically themselves. I also admire her as a person. To be successful in a professional sphere
that, at the time, did not exactly embrace women must have taken great courage.

2. What's your favorite sushi roll?

Spicy Tuna. When you take that first bite the tuna melts in your mouth just like butter and then the
siracha hits your tongue and makes your toes curl. It's amazing!

3. Cupcakes or cookies?

Cupcakes, they feel special because you get to unwrap them. As far as flavors, I'm a traditional girl
so I like classic yellow cake with chocolate frosting.

4. Breakfast at Tiffany's or Roman Holiday?

No contest, Roman Holiday. I fell in love in Rome once so that movie has a soft spot in my heart.

5. Los Angeles in the 40s or New York City in the 60s?

Can I mix and match? New York in the 40s! The 40s are one of my favorite decades because of the
cultural and historical significance of the time. Glen Miller was on the radio, men wore fedoras, and
the ladies rocked red lipstick. My grandmother was working at the American Express Office in New
York City at the time and she had some stories to tell. Her favorite cocktail was a rum and coke and
apparently the boys who drove the tanks were known to be the best looking.

6. What is your go-to nail polish shade?

OPI Cotton Candy, it's a classic. It goes with everything and lasts forever. On my toes I'm a little
more daring and I love OPI Lincoln Park After Dark or OPI Big Apple Red.

7. If you could own one lipstick what would it be?

I'm actually a lip gloss girl. I like for it to have a nice color and some weight to it, but I like being
able to re-apply on the go so gloss fits in better with my daily schedule. Bobbi Brown is my favorite.
She makes great shades that wear well.

8. Your house is on fire and you can only save one item in your closet. WHICH ONE?

A vintage coat that belonged to my grandmother. I actually wore it this year for my holiday card
photo which you can see here. It's a beautiful cream color with a fabulous brown fur collar. Made in
the late 50s, I'm always amazed at how pristine it still is.

9. Kim, Kourtney or Khloe?

Don't get me wrong they're laughing all the way to the bank so more power to them, but I can't stand
   any of them.

10. Cheese plate or dessert?

Cheese plate! I'm not a huge dessert person but I LOVE cheese! Give me a charcuterie plate and a
glass of red wine and I'm a happy girl.

11. You can only order one cocktail for the rest of your life. WHAT IS IT?

Extra Dirty Martini with three olives! Shaken, not stirred:).

  1. Aw, thank you Kelly! I am honored! I actually got the Liebster recently, so I won't post again in the blog, but I'll answer your questions because I know when I did this I was really excited to see what everyone's answers were!

    1. You're headed out for a night on the town! Do you put on high heels or sparkly flats?

This answer was easy before I broke my foot - heels. I lived in them. Nowadays, I think I'd sadly have to wear flats. =(

    2. Who is your all-time favorite James Bond and why? {Sean Connery, Roger Moore, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan or Daniel Craig- Oops did I bold that one? sorry didn't mean to unduly influence:)}

I have a confession... I have never in my life watched a James Bond movie the entire way through. That being said, I'm just gonna go with Sean Connery because well... he's Sean Connery.

    3. Healthy eating is out the door for the moment and you need some serious comfort food. What is your favorite culinary guilty pleasure?

Baked macaroni and cheese. Or a big fat burger from Burger Bach, complete with french fries and a few different dipping sauces.

    4. Describe your style in three sentences or less.

That's easy - I don't really have a style. I try to be simple and classic with a touch of trend or what I call an "artsy fartsy" statement piece, but I'm not sure if I actually accomplish this.

    5. It's Saturday, you have nowhere to be, and it's 80 degrees outside.....what do you do for the day?

Well, first I sleep in. Then, in a dream world, I would walk to the River, put my kayak in, and go for a paddle. In the real world, I might head to downtown Richmond for a photo safari followed by a late lunch at Stella's.

    6. What's your favorite book and why?

I love "The Poisonwood Bible" by Barbara Kingsolver. I'm not sure why I love it so much... I just do.

    7. When it comes to your wardrobe do you head to a vintage store or seek out the latest fashion?

I'm very lazy, so usually I just shop online, have a bunch of stuff delivered to my door, then return 90% of it. I wish I had the patience to go sift through vintage shops, but usually when I do shop I have one particular item in mind (aka blue cardigan) and just want to get it and get out.

    8. Would you rather live in the city, suburbs, or the country?

    CITY!!!!

    9. You're lucky enough to have someone bring you breakfast in bed. What's on the tray?

An egg white omelet with mushrooms, gruyere, onions, and prosciutto; homestyle hashbrowns and a caramel latte.

    10. Where is the one place you have never traveled to, but have always wanted go?

I haven't ALWAYS wanted to go to Prague, but it is one place that I still really want to get to. That and the Lake Country in England. I already lived my real travel dream - Paris - and of course I would be more than happy to go back there again and again.

    11. What inspired you to start your blog?

I've always kept an online journal, but kept it private. When I started really getting into running, I started to follow a lot of running blogs and found them so inspirational that I wanted to start my own. Also, I have a tendency to forget about things really quickly, so having a record of what I did/what happened is really helpful.
