Once Sandy finally left us early Tuesday I let out a breath I didn't know I had been holding in. See I'm a big sissy when it comes to storms and despite the fact that I would be perfectly fine - knowing that at any second you could loose power for an indefinite amount of time really takes a toll on you. We were lucky in Richmond. Heavier than normal rain and wind were all we sustained. Others further North were not so lucky.
I don't want to diminish the devastation elsewhere, but out of the areas affected, New York City is the place I have spent the most time. In fact I was there the same weekend last year {celebrating my sister's birthday } and it snowed for the first time in October since 1886. The stories and photos coming out of the city have been hard to believe. But NYC is a city like no other and will bounce back as it always does.
I had an entirely different post scheduled for today but after stressing {waiting for Sandy to arrive } I thought it would be fun to come up with a plan. My survival kit will keep me company should I find myself in the dark {in NYC or on The Hill }. What would be in your survival kit?
